It is considered a disabling disease to those effected with a substantial effect on their quality of life. Surgical management of sacrococcygeal pilonidal disease remains debatable, with the optimal surgical approach is yet to be determined. The ideal surgical management of pilonidal disease should allow a quick recovery, minimally effecting lifestyle in the postoperative period, early return to normal daily activities and a low recurrence rate.
